Alaine Duncan is an expert in the use of acupuncture for the treatment of traumatic stress.  She received her Acupuncture Master’s Degree from TAI Sophia Institute in 1990, and is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.  She has a unique acupuncture practice that integrates modern understandings of the neuro-biology of traumatic stress with ancient healing principles from Chinese medicine.  Her research background includes serving on studies assessing the use of acupuncture for the treatment of combat-related traumatic stress, and for chronic headaches amongst combat veterans with traumatic brain injuries.  In addition to her active private practice, she is the Founder and the Clinical Director of Crossings HealingWorks, a non profit organization whose mission is to “bring ancient healing traditions that restore and renew the body, mind, spirit of people touched by trauma – creating peace for one family, one community, one world – one person at a time.
